GTA 6 on Nintendo Switch 2? Everything We Know So Far

The release of GTA 6 (Grand Theft Auto VI) by Rockstar Games is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated events of late 2025, alongside Nintendo’s new console, the Nintendo Switch 2 (NS2).

Given this, a question arises: Will Rockstar Games’ new title be released on Nintendo’s next console? In recent months, various rumors and leaks suggest that this possibility may not be as far-fetched as it seems.

Does the Nintendo Switch 2 have enough power to run GTA 6?

One of the main challenges for a possible GTA 6 release on the Switch 2 is the console’s hardware. The game has been confirmed only for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and we know it will require high processing power.

However, multiple leaks suggest that the Switch 2 will have hardware comparable to the Xbox Series S. If this is true—and considering that Rockstar Games is already developing an optimized version for Microsoft’s budget-friendly console—then a port for the Nintendo Switch 2 might not be entirely out of the question.

Another important point is that, over the years, Nintendo has managed to port seemingly impossible games to its consoles, such as The Witcher 3 and Doom Eternal on the original Switch. A GTA 6 version for the Switch 2 could feature downgraded graphics, run via cloud streaming, or even receive an exclusive optimized version tailored to the hardware.

A partnership between Rockstar and Nintendo could make GTA 6 on the Switch 2 a reality.

Another hint that GTA 6 could come to the Nintendo Switch 2 comes from an interesting leak found in FNAC’s store codes. A user discovered references to Rockstar Games titles on Nintendo’s new platform, suggesting a possible collaboration between the companies.

Additionally, Rockstar has previously released several titles for Nintendo consoles, such as GTA: Chinatown Wars on the Nintendo DS, GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, and Red Dead Redemption on the Nintendo Switch. This shows that the company has no resistance to bringing its games to the Japanese platform.

As an alternative, given the rumors that Rockstar Games might separate the game into story mode and online mode, the developer could release a lighter version exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2.

Despite all these hints, it’s important to remember that the final decision lies with Rockstar Games. The company has always been extremely cautious with its releases and, so far, has not given any official indication that GTA 6 will be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2.
