EA Rethinks Strategy and Plans to Release a Major Update for Apex Legends

Electronic Arts announced a significant shift in its approach to Apex Legends. During the company’s earnings call, Andrew Wilson, EA’s CEO, stated that the company is committed to delivering a “larger and more meaningful update” for the game.

Back in October, EA had ruled out the idea of a “sequel” for Apex Legends, but now the strategy appears to have changed. Wilson acknowledged that, despite the game having over 200 million players, its performance has not met expectations. He emphasized the company’s continued investment in the player community.

The company has outlined three main focuses for the game’s development. The first is support for the active community. The second is a major update, a sort of “Apex 2.0,” currently in development. The third is listening to the community, expanding the IP, and ensuring the launch happens after the next Battlefield.

Although the details of the update have not been revealed, Wilson’s statement points to a new strategy. EA seems to be aware of the need to revitalize Apex Legends in order to maintain its relevance and engage players in the long run.
